Film Academy is an after school programme of inspirational and creative film making sessions, supported by the British Film Institute (BF) and the National Film and Television School (NFTS). Over the course of the 10 sessions run through each school term, the children will create and produce an original short film.

For the Spring term the focus will be on researching and producing a documentary film about a person or place of interest. The children will start by proposing and pitching ideas for the subject of the film. Once the subject is chosen the crew will be responsible for researching, writing, interviewing, designing, acting and producing b-roll as well as creating the music for their film. All of this under the guidance of experienced filmakers, artists and musicians.

Film Academy runs after school and each session is an hour. It is incredible what the children produce in just ten hours, coming together as a crew and getting full hands on filmmaking experience. This term's programme will support each child's progress towards their Introduction to Filmmaking Certificate, acredited by the BFI.
